About Catherine and Martha Orbach

Catherine and Martha Orbach work collaboratively as Printwalks. Over 10 years they have developed a shared practice, based around walking, drawing and printmaking. Each project is rooted in exploring a specific place at a particular time and season. They walk, draw and bring drawings back to the studio. Sharing notes and, using collage and paper cuts, play with composition, ultimately translating drawings into paper stencils for a screenprint. Their work is often hyper local, returning to the same place at different seasons, in different light or times of day. During lockdown and working 457 miles apart, they developed a series of prints documenting the trees and plants encountered on daily walks. Catherine trained in printmaking at Edinburgh College of Art and Martha at Camberwell College of Art and London College of Communication. Catherine is based in Hastings and Martha in Glasgow. They have been selected to show in the Ty Pawb Print Open, the Hepworth Print Fair, the Woolwich Director’s Cut, and with Glasgow Print Studio at the London Art Fair.
