Award-winning artist Darren Rees received the coveted Artist in Residency honour from the Friends of The Scott Polar Research Institute and Bonhams. He travelled with the Royal Navy on HMS Protector from the Falkland Islands to the Antarctic Peninsula and his new book Ice Bound documents his journey with a collection of over 150 sketches, watercolour and acrylic paintings executed in situ.

He has travelled far and wide as an artist and naturalist guide taking groups to diverse destinations, from the Arctic to the Amazon. He serves on the council of the Society of Wildlife Artists, is Chairman of the Education Committee for the Federation of British Artists and he has been a contributing artist to the Artists for Nature Foundation/WWF projects in Holland, Poland, Peru and Ecuador.
