Robyn Kinsman-Blake
After graduating from Edinburgh College of Art’s Jewellery and Silversmithing degree course in 2009, Robyn joined the family gallery and working studios, in the village of Smailholm, in the Scottish Borders.
Beaten, folded, saw-pierced, melted and carved, Robyn finds silver a wonderfully co-operative metal, allowing her to work with flowing forms or bold flat two dimensions, even architectural angles. Using highlights of gold and precious stones or the warmth of bronze and the glow of pearIs, with surface finishes ranging from mirror bright or matt, smooth or rugged.
Robyn creates tiny silver jewellery sculptures that you can wear, inspired by a love of stories, capturing characters as small as a wren and as dazzling as a trapeze artist lit by the magic of the circus and brought to life by their wearer.
