Echinacea, Mairi Stewart, Greengallery

Mairi Stewart studied Drawing and Painting at Edinburgh College of Art graduating in 1977 and following a successful career in teaching, retired early in order to paint full time. Mairi’s work is an infusion of her daily observations and is an intuitive response to the relationship that selected objects have with memory.

She finds constant inspiration from her surroundings, be it domestic or in nature and enjoys the endless possibilities of balancing colour and shape within her compositions, often using flowers or fruit as poetic accents within the work.

The overall aim is to capture the original essence of the memory within the final painting. Mairi works mainly in Acrylics on canvas or board and exhibits her work widely in Galleries throughout the UK. She is an Artist member of Paisley Art Institute and has work in many private collections in both the UK and USA.
