Jacque Scorgie, Ocean Explorations, Ceramic, Glaze, 11.8 x 13.7 x 3.34, £330

Jacque completed her studies at Stirling University and Forth Valley College with First Class Honours in Art and Design. She worked on modern art during her tenure at both of these.

Within Jacque’s ceramics practice, she explores abstracted shapes and forms, through both hand building and slip casting. The aim is to create work that audiences want to touch and hold, to carry on that tactility from the making process.

Through experimentation with glazes, Jacque explores colours and textures that create mini-worlds within the form or highlight the shape of the ceramic. Both the decoration and the making are important to Jacque’s practice as she wants both aspects to be equally appreciated by herself and the audience.

Since graduating, Jacque has maintained her practice by creating her own Jigabet and successfully being accepted into the Aberdeen Artist Society Annual exhibition at the Aberdeen Art Gallery and the Angus Meffan Winter Show.

A selection of Jacque’s artwork is currently available at Made in Stirling, an independent art store that specialises in handcrafted gifts. In 2023, Jacque was accepted into the Paisley Big Art Show, which is held in the Paisley Centre over the summer. Throughout 2024, Jacque has exhibited alongside the Scottish Potters Association to celebrate the institution’s 50th anniversary.
