Nicola Briggs creates porcelain ceramics and atmospheric abstract paintings, drawing inspiration from natural textures, the shifting light across landscapes and a muted colour palette inspired by dramatic weather and moody skies.

Dynamic surfaces are generated by layering diverse colours over relief detail and glaze textures, frequently finishing her ceramic work with torn edges, and concluding with platinum lustre drips during the third fire.

Nicola graduated from Staffordshire University with a BA(Hons) Design: Ceramics Arts degree in 1998 and now works from both her garden studio for ceramic work and also her painting studio at Spinners Mill, Leigh. She sells her work in galleries, art shows, and selected stockists throughout the UK and will be at Manchester Art Fair in November 2025.
